When we bought our first electric car in January of 2013, the Toyota Rav4 EV with the Tesla battery and powertrain, we followed Toyota’s advice on the right home charger to buy. It worked fine for six years, first in charging the electric Rav4 and then starting in 2017 our two new electric Chevy Bolts.

I have been on exactly one ICE (dinasour juice* consuming Internal Combustion Engine vehicles) roadtrip prior to this. Since my car was new and I had no practical data on how much my car could go on a single charge, I looked at some YouTube videos and assumed that the minimum range I could expect would be around 300kms at full charge.

Okay, 97 per cent battery life and 387km range. It’s mind-blowing, if not quite in the re-wire brain territory of the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. Very cool and ideal to charge phones, your laptop, coffee machine, widescreen TV or even bar fridge. Importantly, I’m back to 100% charge and 376km range. Looks expensive.

A distance of 923 km using DC fast charging infrastructure. Ended up buying some harbaara , carrot, cucumber and oranges. The power was still on as the dashboard and LCD screen so the auxiliary battery was still connected. SoC was 83%, so there were no battery drain issue. Udaipur is the local minima of the Aravali range.
