USDA announces state finalists for $100M Biofuel Infrastructure Partnership for pumps with higher ethanol blends

Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) received applications requesting more than $130 million, outpacing the $100 million that is available. With a more than 1:1 match from private and state resources, USDA estimates that the BIP grants will support nearly 5,000 pumps at over 1,400 fueling stations across the country.

USDA establishes four additional Biomass Crop Assistance Program project areas

Earlier this year, USDA announced BCAP Project Area 1 that comprised up to 50,000 acres for establishing a dedicated energy crop of native grasses and forbs for energy purposes in 39 counties in central and western Missouri and eastern Kansas. The sign-up period for the new project areas will begin on Monday, 20 June 2011.

USDA providing $9.6M to create 9,000 acres of BCAP project areas for non-food energy crop production

These crops, such as switchgrass, hybrid poplar and giant miscanthus, are the first-ever national investments in expanding US biomass resources to meet domestic energy needs.
