Lightning Systems, a global developer of zero-emission drivetrains for commercial fleets, announced new battery-electric powertrain options for the Ford F-59 Model to support its customers with delivery and food truck applications. This powertrain is the fifth powertrain now available in the Lightning product line.

The expansion will increase the deployment of 150 and 350 kilowatt chargers—the fastest speed available today. The announcement expands Electrify America’s previous commitment to invest $2 billion over 10 years in Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) infrastructure, education, and access in the US.

Tritium, a global developer and manufacturer of DC fast chargers for EVs, and Miller Technology , a supplier of mobile mining equipment for safety and productivity, are partnering to provide fast chargers and light-duty battery EVs for the mining industry. Tritium provided RT175-S fast chargers to BMA for the project.

One of these components is the inverter, which changes direct current (DC) from the car’s batteries into alternating current (AC) to power its drive motor (Figure 1). The inverter’s ability to provide a smooth flow of current depends on its integral DC link capacitor (Figure 2). If connected to DC, the motor simply will not rotate.
