GM plans to introduce the Chevrolet Volt (to be known in Europe as the Opel/Vauxhall Ampera) by 2010 with a 40mile all-electric range. In the West it appears that plug-in hybrids are an attractive solution. Since the majority of drivers travel less than 40 miles a day, there would be little or no use of petroleum.
