At its Spring Conference on April 16, the brand revealed three new models: its flagship Bao 8 SUV, a Super 9 convertible sportscar, and the Super 3 rugged SUV concept. The new electric SUV will debut next week at Auto China 2024. The Bao 5 starts at $40,000 (289,800 yuan) in China.

Another low-cost electric vehicle is headed to the US. Tavares said, “In the same way we brought the 20,000 Euro Citroen e-C3, you will have a $25,000 Jeep very soon,” at a Bernstein investor conference Wednesday. Tavares said he expects the company’s EVs to reach cost parity with gas-powered cars within the next three years.

BYD, the China-based battery and automaker, will supply lithium-ion batteries to one of China’s top three auto groups for applications in hybrid vehicles. The agreement markets BYD’s first Li-ion supply deal with a domestic China OEM. BYD, launched its production plug-in hybrid F3DM last December in China.
