Fuel economy for the EcoBoost is 22 mpg city/33 mpg highway/26 mpg combined, and 21/29/24 with the Performance Pack. It used to be about style for the base cars and cheap speed for the more-powerful ponies. The EcoBoost offers a lot of sport for a lot less money than the V8 GT. It’s not perfect.

I get it – sound deadening equals fuel-economy killing weight. Fuel economy is listed at 52 mpg across the board for city/highway/combined. mpg -- and the computer wasn't reset when I picked up the car. Some possibly suspect back of envelope math based on my notes showed about 48 mpg. Out the door price?

Size is the enemy of fuel economy, and even with a reduced cylinder count the numbers are a not great 14 mpg city/19 mpg highway/16 mpg combined. Smoothness doesn’t often come cheap, after all.
