As manufacturers, we are sympathetic to the thrust of Senator Murkowski’s amendment that the Congress—and not simply EPA acting under the provisions of the current Clean Air Act—should determine how best to reduce US greenhouse gas emissions economy-wide. The AAM and AIAM are opposing this amendment.

In April of this year a senior EPA official said they may need another year to complete the durability testing. That is a concern for the auto industry and we hope that is a concern for the DOE and EPA. The original testing involved 13 cars and they drove an average of 500-1,000 miles. Charles Territo.
