United and United Airlines Ventures (UAV) announced an investment in and commercial agreement with Dimensional Energy. Under the commercial agreement, United has agreed to purchase at least 300 million gallons of SAF over 20 years from Dimensional. The company began construction on a CO 2 -to-fuels demo in Tucson, Arizona in 2021.

The joint grant was funded by the US Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Transportation Office under the recently announced FY19 Commercial Trucks and Off-Road Applications FOA.
