California’s Aptera Motors today confirmed its battery supplier for its upcoming solar-supplemented, hyper-efficient three-wheeled cars: China’s EVE Energy. It plans to use cylindrical cells, in the same 2170 format that’s been used in the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, as well as the Rivian R1T and others.

Aptera has announced that they will be using EVE Energy batteries in their upcoming production car, and the batteries will be produced in San Diego. Specifically, Aptera has chosen to use EVE’s 21700 NMC 811 cylindrical lithium-ion batteries in its structural battery packs.
