Honda last week announced key targets for sales of electrified vehicles in North America, with a plan to make battery-electric and fuel cell electric vehicles (BEVs and FCEVs) to represent 100% of its vehicle sales by 2040, progressing from sales of 40% by 2030 and 80% by 2035. Honda has sent us a brief on its hopes and plans for the near future. Honda also says it's continuing to aim to reach a goal of a 7 percent return on sales by fiscal year 2026. Honda has plans for a mid- to large-size electric vehicle to debut for sale in North America in 2025, based on a dedicated platform. One will be an SUV.

As the world’s largest power unit manufacturer with annual sales of approximately 30 million units of mobility products including motorcycles, automobiles, power products, outboard motors and aircraft, Honda says that it aims to realize carbon neutrality for all products and corporate activities Honda is involved in by 2050.

Sadly, there seems little chance of Prologue coming to Australia in the foreseeable future, with Honda’s local arm focussed on hybrids. Honda already has the funky e on sale in Europe and Japan and the e:NP1 and e:NS1 in China , but the Prologue will be the first EV it will sell in North America.

Acura is taking the jump into the world of electric vehicles with not one, but two models. The division’s first full-electric vehicles will be the 2024 Acura ZDX and a performance version, the ZDX Type S, that Acura says “demonstrate its commitment to performance in the electrified era.”.
