Volkswagen is the first automaker to transport most of its new vehicles overseas using low-emission LNG ships. After the first two LNG car carriers entered service in 2020, Volkswagen Group Logistics has now ordered four more ships with dual-fuel engines that can be powered with LNG. The use of LNG not only reduces CO 2 emissions.

As part of a pilot project, Audi is procuring 20-inch wheels for the Audi e-tron GT electric car that are made from low-CO 2 emission aluminum supplied by Alcoa to RONAL GROUP, the wheel’s manufacturer. The site has been supplied with renewable energy since 2020.

Initial results from a joint pilot test of 14 series-produced Mercedes-Benz trucks and buses running NExBTL renewable diesel (hydrotreated vegetable oil, HVO) since mid-2008 show a reduction in NO x emissions of up to 15%, and in CO 2 emissions of more than 60% compared to fossil fuels.
