Most of the vehicles debuting at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show were powered by some sort of electricity. Not all were, of course, as there is still plenty of interest around gasoline-propelled cars, SUVs and trucks. Fiat announced the 500e is returning in 2024 with a 150-mile range and an updated exterior and interior.

Hyundai presented its new 2019 Kona Electric crossover (introduced in March at the New York Auto Show, earlier post ) and 2019 NEXO fuel cell SUV (showcased at CES in January, earlier post ) to US media at a driving introduction in Los Angeles. Hyundai estimates the range to be 258 miles. NEXO fuel-cell SUV.

At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Volkswagen announced it will introduce a battery-electric SUV based on the I.D. The MEB currently starts with a range of 200 miles (323 km) with expected extension to up to 300 miles (483 km) in the next few years. Production of the compact all-electric Volkswagen I.D. Amazon’s renewable delivery van started testing rounds in Los Angeles earlier this year in February. The EV van utilizes Rivian’s skateboard platform, and it’s capable of traveling 150 miles per charge. It was custom-built for Amazon after Jeff Bezos’ company led an investment round for Rivian in 2019.

Fisker , a Los Angeles-based automotive company, will sell its first electric car, Ocean crossover SUV by the end of 2022. Rivian has planned to start production with off-road-capable pickup, the SUV, and R1T electric pickup, whereas work on R1S will start next year. The price will be around $40,000. billion in funding.

Sometimes the EPA is spot-on, but commonly we exceed its numbers by a few miles per gallon. Adding electric miles. Adding together the gasoline and electricity, the EPA estimates 105 MPGe (Miles Per Gallon Equivalent). A fully charged battery will deliver 26 miles of all-electric driving. You had me at 46 MPG.
