Exceeding its initial program targets, the plug-in 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid ( earlier post ) has earned an electric-mode fuel economy rating of 84 miles-per-gallon-equivalent (MPGe) from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ (FCA) Chrysler Brand will launch two plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) over the next several years, said Al Gardner, President and CEO of the Chrysler Brand, during the FCA Investor Day presentations at Auburn Hills, Mi. FCA will launch a PHEV minivan in 2016 to comply with ZEV requirements.

Stellantis says it has a remedy for recalled 2017 and 2018 Chrysler Pacific Hybrid plug-in hybrid minivans that addresses potential fire risks. While a root cause hasn't been identified, the automaker said it has identified conditions that potentially proceed a fire, which the fix addresses.

Li-ion battery maker LG Chem will supply the 16-kWh Li-ion battery pack system and controls for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan. Waymo (formerly the Google self-driving car project, earlier post ) and FCA announced that production of 100 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans ( earlier post ) uniquely built to enable fully self-driving operations has been completed. They’ve been great partners, and we look forward to continued teamwork with them as we move into 2017.
