Clean Energy’s 2019 Redeem totals were bolstered by a seven-year contract with UPS for 170 million gallons to fuel their large fleet of natural gas heavy-duty trucks around the country, the largest purchase of RNG ever in the US. In 2015, the City built a private CNG fueling station and started converting its fleet of 70 refuse trucks.

The Long Beach, CA-based truck/trailer emits 85% less overall particulate matter and 10% less carbon dioxide than its diesel counterparts. Toyota Transport’s southern California Vehicle Delivery Operations in Long Beach and Mira Loma have 32 trucks in service, and the group delivers approximately 200,000 vehicles annually.

The updated trucks, which were originally purchased in September 2015, deliver up to four times the fuel economy of a gasoline-powered vehicle, UPS said. The trucks were purchased under UPS’ commitment to log 1 billion miles with alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles by the end of 2017.

In 2016, United agreed to purchase up to 15 million gallons of sustainable biofuel from AltAir Paramount over a three-year period. We continue to evaluate options for our Long Beach and Bakersfield assets. For its first commercial project, AltAir partnered with Alon Energy USA to use its existing refinery in Paramount.

The City of Long Beach recently announced the purchase of more than 100 additional light- and medium-duty CNG vehicles that will fuel at two Clean Energy stations in the city. Long-time customer, Dillon Transportation, has signed a new agreement with Clean Energy to fuel its heavy duty trucks in Texas with Redeem.
