To support the planned commercial launch of fuel cell electric vehicles by automakers in 2015 (FCEVs), California needs 68 hydrogen fueling stations in five clusters in which most early adopters are expected, according to a new report issued by the California Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP).

CARB will conduct a public hearing on 27 September in Sacramento to consider the proposed ICT Regulation. The diesel bus path required retrofitting existing buses with diesel particulate filters, while agencies utilizing alternative-fuel path had to ensure that 85% of urban bus purchases were alternative fueled buses.

Propel launched Diesel HPR across Southern California in August 2015, and consumer adoption of the fuel has risen 300% compared to its former biodiesel product (B20). Propel offers Diesel HPR at 32 locations across California in Los Angeles, Orange Country, San Diego, Inland Empire, Sacramento, Fresno and the Bay Area.

California-based Propel Fuels has launched Diesel HPR (High Performance Renewable) at its retail stations. Neste Oil’s NEXBTL renewable diesel and is available at 18 locations across Northern California in Sacramento, San Jose, East Bay, Redwood City and Fresno. Diesel HPR contains 98.5% Carbon intensities range from 16.21 gCO 2 e/MJ.

The California Energy Commission unanimously approved funding of $35,031,310 to projects that will accelerate the development of green fuels and technology in California. Key to this reduction has been the development and implementation of a plan that has improved the State fleet’s overall use of alternative fuels, the reduction of unneeded fleet vehicles, and reducing unnecessary vehicle miles traveled. 281,619 gallons gasoline equivalent (gge) of CNG and propane (7%). 216,723 gallons E85 ethanol (6%).

In 2019, Clean Energy unveiled ambitious goals to exclusively offer zero-carbon Redeem at all of its fueling stations by 2025. At this pace Clean Energy would outdistance other alternative fuels, including electric vehicles, which are not expected to hit that mark until 2045.
