The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has fined two shipping companies for failing to switch from bunker fuel to cleaner, low-sulfur fuel when sailing within 24 miles of the California coast, as required by a state law adopted in 2008.

This season, he drives for G-Oil’s Green Earth Team Gunnar in the new LMP Challenge class. His ORECA FLM09 competes using Green Earth Technologies’ G-Oil, a biodegradable fuel made from beef tallow.

ARB Exploring Amendments to OGV Fuel Regulation to Increase Compliance, Keep Ships Out of Naval Weapons Range Area

The OGV Fuel Regulation was adopted by the ARB in 2008 and implementation began on 1 July 2009. It requires OGVs to use less polluting marine distillate fuels instead of heavy fuel oil within a designated area along the California coastline. SK Energy Has Two HEV, Four PHEV Li-ion Cells, Packs Ready for Production

Jeon Oh, SK Energy’s Leader, Corporate R&D Center/HEV Battery Project, provided an update on the company’s Li-ion automotive battery activities at the Advanced Automotive Battery Conference 2009 this week in Long Beach. The PHEV20 pack uses 96 cells and is 65 liters (0.065 cubic meters or 2.3 cubic feet) in volume.
