The Volvo Group is joining the World Wide Fund for Nature’s (WWF) Climate Savers Program —the first vehicle manufacturer to do so. Volvo Cars was named the best car make in Sustainable Brands, Sweden’s biggest sustainability survey for various brands. The DRIVe series, launched in 2008, encompasses seven models all classed as green cars. Volvo accounts for 21% of green cars sold in Sweden.

Efforts to reduce the emissions of goods transport have proved successful after the results of the joint project KNEG (Climate-Neutral Good Transportation by Road) were presented at the Logistics & Transport fair in Gothenburg, Sweden. The 2008 members managed to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 120,000 tonnes.

The new truck is an upgraded version of the parallel hybrid trucks field-tested in Stockholm and Göteborg, Sweden, over the past eighteen months. Renova, a waste and recycling company in Göteborg, is among the customers that have been testing Volvo’s hybrid refuse truck since spring 2008, and they can report an even greater reduction.
