I knew I wanted something for her that was cheap to maintain, had a reliable automatic transmission, came with cruise control, AC. One of our 2006 Prius’ pack needed servicing and it only cost a few hundred dollars to fix 7 modules and change the bus bars connecting the modules by a hybrid shop. It was time to buy our first car.

Nearby, my favorite cheap find, El Charrito Express , served substantial barbacoa wraps stuffed with marinated beef, beans and rice for $6.99. My salmon rice bowl was not cheap at $26, but it was delicious, substantial and only a few dollars more than food truck options at the Carmel Farmers Market across the street.

With subsidies long in place for nuclear, coal and gas in the US along with the cheap cost of production for coal and natural gas, solar is essentially competing with that $0.10/kWh Solar’s competition is really fossil fuel, or in other words, the established way electricity is being generated.

Not easy or cheap, but it has worked so far. With no history to hold them back, they began developing battery-powered two-wheelers in 2006 and have never looked back. They’ll never be marketed like refrigerators or water heaters. Create a New EV Company. Tesla is the poster child for this option, and so far, it’s working.
