will introduce a new gasoline-electric hybrid version of the QX60 crossover into the US lineup this summer, following its world debut at the upcoming New York International Auto Show. A fleet of 30 A-Class F-CELL vehicles has been in daily use on public roads in the US since 2004. The B-Class F-CELL, which also features a Li-ion battery pack, will have an operating range of about 250 miles (402 km) per tank filling. The new 700 bar technology extends the range in the current vehicle generation by about 70%.

The lithium-ion battery comprises 168 prismatic cells and is liquid-cooled. The Q7 PHEV will arrive in dealerships in Germany in 2016, and will likely come to the US, although perhaps with a gasoline-engine variant. Its emphasis is on lithium-ion battery systems, which are put together using a flexible, modular concept.

Power and Associates 2004 report ]. Dont PHEVs just shift pollution from gasoline cars to power plants? The enthusiasm for ethanol ("flex-fuel" cars use E85, which is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline) is welcome. Lithium-Ion batteries share many characteristics with NiMH. The EPRI says lithium-ion batteries are ready now.
