BASF broke ground for its new production plant for sodium methylate in Guaratinguetá, Brazil, its largest site in South America. Sodium methylate is an efficient and reliable catalyst for the production of biodiesel. It is the second BASF plant for this product, in addition to a plant in Ludwigshafen.

Solvay is investing at its Livorno, Italy site to launch the company’s first unit of circular highly dispersible silica (HDS) made with bio-based sodium silicate derived from rice husk ash (RHA). The Group is also investigating projects on circular HDS in Asia and South America.

So Indian battery cell manufacturers can easily procure Iron, Phosphate, Silicon and Sodium from the Indian Mining industry or from recycling centers. In LFP packs, Iron, Lithium and Phosphate is used in the Cathode of the cell.

UK-based Modec and Navistar International Corporation are finalizing a joint venture for the production and sales of electric Class 2c-3 commercial vehicles in North, Central and South America. Modec has used both Zebra (sodium nickel chloride) and Li-ion packs in its trucks so far.
