BMW Group to use sustainably produced aluminum wheels from 2024

For the BMW Group, this is another step towards its goal of creating the most sustainable supply chain in the automotive industry. Up until now, wheels have accounted for about 5% of supply chain CO 2 emissions. The BMW Group procures about 10 million light-alloy wheels per year; 95% of these are made from cast aluminum.

BMW Group sourcing aluminum produced using solar energy from EGA

The aluminum produced using solar power is processed in the light metal foundry at BMW Group Plant Landshut to manufacture body and drive train components, including those needed for electric drive trains. Without corrective measures, CO 2 emissions per vehicle in the BMW Group supply chain would increase by more than a third by 2030.
