Alstom and MOL, Hungary’s leading oil and gas company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to structure cooperation in examining the use of hydrogen technology in rail transportation. Alstom is a pioneer of hydrogen technology, having introduced the Coradia iLint to the German market in September 2018 ( earlier post ).

Components for the production of batteries at Audi’s Brussels plant will no longer be delivered by truck from Hungary, but by rail with DB Cargo. The switch in means of delivery between Hungary and Brussels, which was started in May and is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of 2023, is a preview of the car manufacturer’s future.

With the construction of the solar-cell park, we are now taking a further step to achieve this in terms of power supply. We are also installing new technologies at all our plants to reduce our water consumption, avoid air pollution and improve recycling. Our goal is to have completely CO 2 -neutral plant operation in the future.

Mercedes-Benz Cars is starting construction of its first “Full-Flex Plant“ in Kecskemét, Hungary, about 90 km in the south of Budapest. With an investment of one billion euros, we are building in Hungary the first ‘Full-Flex Plant’ in the global production network of Mercedes-Benz Cars. Modern logistics concepts are also integrated.

In Germany, all Mercedes-Benz plants will be supplied with CO 2 -neutral energy. Today, new plants in Europe are already planned with a CO2-neutral energy supply from the start.
