Northvolt will obtain 100% of the energy needed to produce the battery cells regionally in northern Sweden and exclusively from wind and hydroelectric power. The BMW Group has also localized battery production in Thailand, where it is working with the Dräxlmaier Group. More than half of the 25 models will be fully electric.

The magnets—and thus the rotor—follow the rotating alternating current field in the stator windings. In the EQS SUV, Mercedes-Benz uses a pull-in winding for a particularly strong magnetic field. The motor on the rear axle is particularly powerful due to its six-phase design: it has two windings with three phases each.
