UK Environment Secretary Michael Gove published a new Clean Air Strategy to cut air pollution backed up through new primary legislation. The UK said it will go further and faster than the EU in reducing human exposure to particulate matter pollution. These proposals are in addition to the government’s £3.5-billion billion (US$4.7-billion)

Air pollution emitted from sources such as traffic, industry and households is still above internationally agreed limits in 12 European countries, according to newly published data. These pollutants are harmful to both people and the environment, causing respiratory illnesses, acidifying soil and surface water, and damaging vegetation.

The approval also includes battery cell production activities within the Giga Berlin complex, which should allow Tesla to manufacture its in-house cells from within Germany. .

But even today, vehicles equipped with Bosch diesel technology can achieve as little as 13 milligrams of NO x in standard legally-compliant RDE cycles. That is approximately one-tenth of the prescribed limit that will apply after 2020. It is available to customers effective immediately and can be incorporated into production projects.
