The CEC updates its Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) sales figures quarterly by analyzing DMV data. Specifically, cumulative sales through the end of 2021 were: 663,014 BEV (62.9%). That’s the findings from the Automotive Insights Report analysing March 2024 used car sales compiled by AutoGrab and the Australian Automotive Dealer Association. Nissan Leaf – from $9000 2012 Nissan Leaf. We found only four for sale, with $28,880 for a 190km range 2014 60Ah version with 100,000km the cheapest. Some haven’t proved as popular as hoped ( Mazda MX-30 ) while some owners may have simply decided, in a few months of ownership, that an EV isn’t for them.

Other positive sales trends from 2021 include: Nissan LEAF: First launched in the US in December 2010, the iconic LEAF saw a 49% increase in sales versus 2020, and 78% in Q4 versus Q3 of 2021. Audi e-tron GT: A competitor to the Tesla Model S, the e-tron GT had a 65% increase in Q4 over Q3, its first quarter for sale in the US.
