Source: Fisker Automotive. has received a $30-million purchase order for supplying key components and subsystems related to Quantum’s proprietary Q-Drive powertrain systems for the Fisker Karma production program under the terms of its supply agreement. Fisker Karma utilizes an Ecotec 2.0-liter Powertrain for the Karma.

Fisker Automotive, Inc. New York-based Eco-Drive (Capital) Partners LLC, a European-American investment consortium, and Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, an early investor in Fisker, have together agreed to provide the capital. Early production vehicles of the 2010 Fisker Karma are slated to come off the assembly line late this year.

Actually, it’s a plug-in hybrid much like the Chevy Volt. Like the Volt, they are shooting for a 300 mile range with the first 40 miles all electric.
