On a personal level, it was my first time at a NASCAR event wearing a media credential. I didn’t think they were much louder, from a few blocks away, than when some mook drives a souped-up muscle car with an aftermarket exhaust at a high rate of speed down DuSable Lake Shore Drive. Locals know this is not an infrequent occurrence.

One of the most annoying thing about cars that pretend to be a sports sedan, but really aren’t, is their faux or overpowering exhaust note. It had a surprisingly smooth ride on Southern California’s mostly concrete freeways, which are grooved for water dispersal. Sometimes you just have to have fun! Climb In and Step On It.
