The findings of a study by researchers at Carnegie Mellon University, with colleagues at UC Berkeley, suggest that changing atmospheric NO x levels over the next two decades will likely significantly reduce the effectiveness of stricter new gasoline vehicle emissions standards in reducing concentrations of secondary organic aerosol (SOA).

The updated Mazda6 ( earlier post ) introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show this past week offers two powertrain options in the US: an upgraded SKYACTIV-G 2.5 produces 310 lb-ft of torque from just 2,000 RPM and 250 hp on 93-octane fuel (227 hp with 87-octane gasoline). Arc is a very new company – it was founded in 2021 in Los Angeles, and is targeting the luxury boat market with high-powered electric boats. And it’s a lot cheaper to fuel than paying marina rates for gasoline. Its cofounders, Mitch Lee and Ryan Cook, are engineers who met while working at Boeing. Which is quite a plus.
