The systems will autonomously charge part of the electric yard tractor fleet of SSA Marine at the International Container Terminal at the Port of Oakland. ROC-1 will work with high power DC charging stations that use a CCS-1 charging connector, offering capability to autonomously charge the vehicles from existing charging supply equipment.

Diesel PM emissions from trucks serving the Port of Oakland, California declined 98% between 2005 and 2015, according to an emissions inventory released by the Port. In that same timeframe, ship emissions dropped 75%. Overall DPM emissions decreased from 261 tons to 63 tons. tons in 2015.

Hyundai will leverage insights gained from these public projects to develop it’s zero-emission commercial fleet business in the US and establish local partnerships across the value chain. During that time, the fleet has reduced CO 2 emissions by an estimated 630 tons, compared to diesel-powered vehicles.

The California Air Resources Board announced a new statewide grant and loan program to help lower-income consumers across California get into the cleanest new and used cars on the market. The Clean Vehicle Assistance Program, run by the Oakland-based nonprofit Beneficial State Foundation, was launched with a $5-million CARB grant.
