BMW i announced a home stationary energy storage system solution integrating its BMW i3 vehicle battery at EVS 29 in Montréal. This strategy will extend the useful life of the battery for the owner, even beyond in-vehicle use, BMW said. The system has been designed to be integrated into the house energy supply chain.

Researchers at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in late February demonstrated a 20-kilowatt bi-directional wireless charging system installed on a UPS medium-duty, plug-in hybrid electric delivery truck. The technology takes energy from the grid and converts it to direct current (DC) voltage.
