In Denmark, Air Liquide inaugurated HyBalance, a pilot site for the production of carbon-free hydrogen. The facility uses electrolysis technology to balance the electricity grid and to store surplus electricity in the form of hydrogen that will be used in industry and transportation. Denmark-based Everfuel A/S has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with an undisclosed German-Norwegian shipping company for collaboration on hydrogen supply to a new zero-emission shipping solution. The first hydrogen plant for renewable energy storage in Greenland has been inaugurated. The plant is a test system which shall help provide suggestions for how hydrogen can be used for future renewable energy storage in the country. This way the hydrogen functions as a battery that stores energy for later use whenever needed.

Usually, the propane off-gas from the Recycle section is used in the steam methane reformer (SMR) plant for the production of hydrogen and the propane off-gas from the Stabilization section is used in a natural gas boiler to raise process steam. The bio-propane production process increases the added value of this sidestream significantly.

In August 2014, Hyundai’s ix35 fuel cell model was driven a record distance for a hydrogen-powered production car on a single tank, covering 435 miles across three Scandinavian countries.

Volt like hybrids are the intermediate future between hydrogen or fast charging electric cars. Then consider that in order to actually go any farther than the neighbood store, one still had to have ANOTHER car. Denmark did that with Wind Power and now most of their energy comes from wind rather than oil, natural gas, or coal.
