The Volvo VNR Electric’s 264-kWh lithium-ion batteries have an operating range of up to 150 miles. Watsontown Trucking Company operates a fleet of 425 trucks that perform over-the-road transport, as well as regional haul and last-mile delivery—two applications that the Volvo VNR Electric model was designed to support.

The rebates will be available through the Sacramento County Incentive Project to install both commercial-grade Level 2 chargers and high-powered DC fast chargers. Additional funding is available for installations in disadvantaged communities, with up to $80,000 for DC fast chargers and up to $6,500 for Level 2 chargers.

The Country Hills Shopping Plaza in Torrance, California will be the site of the first DC fast charging station to open in the state as part of Electrify America’s plan to install approximately 160 charging stations in California by June 2019. Within California, average distance between stations is projected to be 48 miles.

SCIP is currently accepting applications from eligible businesses and public entities for rebates for DC fast charger installations of up to $70,000 per DC fast charger or 75% of the total installation project’s cost, whichever is less. CALeVIP is currently funded for more than $33 million.

Level 2 charging will provide for a charging speed up to 20-25 miles of driving range per hour, which would allow drivers to fully charge their electric vehicles at their home or workplace. The 2,800 Level 2 charging stations will be located at approximately 500 sites, all with more than one charging station.
