Electrify America (EA), the largest open DC fast charging network in the US, is increasing access to sustainable electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure for rural Californians with the deployment of eight new solar-powered, off-grid charging stations across Fresno County.

The California Energy Commission (CEC) has selected 8 awardees for a total of $8,875,457 in funding to install Direct Current (DC) fast charging stations on Interstate 5 (I-5), State Route 99 (SR 99), and along United States Highway 101 (US-101) from San Jose traveling South in California. SR 99: South of Sacramento and north of Fresno.

The California Energy Commission approved nearly $9 million in grants for the installation of DC fast chargers along major state freeways and highways to allow electric vehicle drivers to travel from San Diego to the Oregon border without worrying about running out of energy. The rebates will be available through the Sacramento County Incentive Project to install both commercial-grade Level 2 chargers and high-powered DC fast chargers. Additional funding is available for installations in disadvantaged communities, with up to $80,000 for DC fast chargers and up to $6,500 for Level 2 chargers.

SCIP is currently accepting applications from eligible businesses and public entities for rebates for DC fast charger installations of up to $70,000 per DC fast charger or 75% of the total installation project’s cost, whichever is less. CALeVIP is currently funded for more than $33 million.
