Better Place unveiled its first EV it will sell in the Israel market, the Renault Fluence ZE. The service packages include installation and maintenance of a home recharging station, free access to Better Place’s battery replacement stations and road-side service. Fluence ZE will go on sale from mid-July. A hat-tip to Zohar!

The cost of the electric vehicles is more due to the cost of the battery that counts 40% of the electric bus. The average cost of the lithium-ion battery packs for large orders has fallen from about $600 a kilowatt-hour in 2015 to $150 a kilowatt-hour in 2020 according to the report of the ReportLinker.

Driving range will no longer be an obstacle, because customers will be able to plug their cars into charging units in any of the 500,000 charging spots in Israel. Annual use of an EV should be less than the average cost of $8,000 per year for using a gasoline in many countries including the USA.
