Azure Dynamics Corporation announced the sale of 24 Balance Hybrid Electric buses to King County, Washington for its Access Transportation services. Under a competitive bid process the contract was awarded to EK Coaches, the dealership of record, for the Azure Balance Hybrid Electric drivetrain on a Ford E450 chassis.

Azure Dynamics Corporation recently won orders for up to 50 Balance Hybrid Electric Shuttle Buses by Kentucky municipalities. The stimulus funds were provided to members of the Kentucky Public Transit Association. for the Azure Balance Hybrid Electric drivetrain on a Ford E450 chassis and shuttle bus bodies built by Goshen Coach.

The utility is participating in a national consortium that recently was awarded a federal stimulus grant to purchase plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and the company is buying more trucks to run on compressed natural gas (CNG) as well. The matching stimulus grant will provide up to $2.5 million for the vehicle conversions.

Azure Dynamics Corporation has sold five Balance Hybrid Electric buses to Votran, the transit entity for Volusia County, Florida. FTA stimulus funds covered 100% of the cost of the vehicles.
