Gulf’s move into the LNG marketplace is part of the company’s ongoing strategy to diversify its energy offerings and provide the marketplace with a fuel alternative that is cheaper, cleaner, and domestic. We intend to convert more of our fleet and to supply and distribute LNG to our customers. The economic benefits are remarkable.

This technology is being investigated in a parallel project together with RWTH Aachen University researching the viability of different DME generation methods, looking at conversion efficiency, estimated fuel prices and infrastructure aspects. Alternative, renewable fuels like methyl ethers will play a pivotal role in the future.

The ability to economically and easily break cellulose into sugars is desirable because the sugars can be used to create fuel alternatives. The model predicts how hydrogen bonds in cellulose can shift to remain stable under a wide range of temperatures.

Current economic and engineering models were developed with assumptions that do not match those for alternative fuels.
