Scania, a member of the Volkswagen Group, and Northvolt, a 2016 startup building a European Gigafactory (planned 32 GWh annual capacity) for Li-ion batteries ( earlier post ), have agreed to develop and commercialize battery cell technology for heavy commercial vehicles. Scania has received an order for 158 buses from public transport company Keolis Sverige in Sweden. Keolis Sverige’s vision is to use locally suited, sustainable transport to double transit ridership in Swedish cities. The delivery to Keolis consists of urban, suburban and intercity buses.

Volvo Trucks announced the start of sales of its Volvo FL and Volvo FE electric trucks ( earlier post ) in selected markets within Europe, meeting the increasing demand for sustainable transport solutions in city environments. Sales will start in Sweden, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, France and the Netherlands.

National Electric Vehicle Sweden (Nevs) has signed a framework agreement on taking a 50% stake in Chinese transport vehicle manufacturing company New Long Ma ( NLM ).
