Ford is opening an E-Transit registration site today for commercial customers ahead of order banks opening by July. To date, more than 450 commercial customers in North America, including 200 top fleets and fleet management companies, have said they’re interested in purchasing the E-Transit.

Ford Motor Company confirmed that it will build the full-size Transit van at its Kansas City Assembly Plant when the new product joins its North American lineup in 2013. Ford is investing $16 billion in its U.S. billion in US plants—to design, engineer and produce more new and upgraded vehicles and components by 2015.

Ford's entry was the Fairlane, which debuted as a 1962 model. The Fairlane name was lifted from Henry Ford's estate in Dearborn , Fair Lane, which itself was named after the street in Cork, Ireland, where Henry's grandfather was born in 1804. However, Australians could buy new Ford Fairlanes all the way through the middle 2000s.

Ford will bring the all-new Ford Transit commercial van to market with an option for an all-new diesel engine as well as the 3.5L Ford says that the new Transit, which begins production in Kansas City in 2013, will achieve at least 25% better fuel economy than current E-Series vans. The Ram ProMaster is a Fiat design dating to 2014, but it now offers an up-to-date electric powertrain. So we’ve had Ram ProMasters since the 2015 model year, replacing the Dodge Sprinter van based on a design from previous owner Mercedes-Benz. Ford announced its E-Transit only in November 2020, and deliveries started in February 2022.
