The most immediate, effective and low-cost way to reduce soot emissions is to put particle traps on vehicles, diesel trucks, buses, and construction equipment. Soot could be further reduced by converting vehicles to run on renewable electric power.

The California Air Resources Board released its proposed greenhouse gas cap-and-trade regulation. During the public comment period, ARB staff will continue to meet with stakeholders to refine the regulation and develop proposed changes to present at the Board hearing.
