The average US residential customer pays 12 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) , which means the cost to drive one mile in an EV is somewhat less than 4 cents. By contrast, at 25 miles per $3 gallon of gasoline, those miles cost 12 cents each. Coal still supplies more power in the US than anything else, with natural gas next.

According to the Department for Business, the average cost for standard electricity in the UK in 2020 was 17.2p/kWh. That rate would give the LEAF a cost of 17.2 * 24 to drive 100 miles. Our system was configured with two battery units each with 2.4kWh storage giving 4.8KWh of maximum stored capacity. Or around 4p pe rmile.
