Businesses are looking to attract customers and show their green side, and government is seeking the emissions reduction benefit of plug-ins. Creating an new industry that converts cheap electricity into a monetized charge session is not necessarily the best way forward.

God knows what the Brit government does with all those pennies and pounds, but they sure as hell don’t throw enough cash at the road system. That said, it wouldn’t have been far off the Hyundai Kona EV’s tag. It will go on sale sooner than the larger Kia EV5 , which was revealed in production form at the same event.

It was started by a chemist and government researcher named Wang Chuan-Fu in 1995 (same year as Yahoo) to make rechargeable batteries, which it learned to do very well. government is going to help U.S. car companies and battery makers as much as the Chinese government is going to help BYD. BYD is an amazing company.

At a press event on Monday, Oregon’s governor, Ted Kulongoski, was talking up Nissan’s previously announced partnership with the state. Furthermore, changing the battery pack on say a Toyota Prius often costs a fortune, at least in most European countries, so such cars better be VERY cheap, but they’re not.
