As the luxury division of the Hyundai Group (Genesis, Hyundai and Kia) it has gone from two models in 2015 to eight in 2023. Genesis is on schedule to have 100+ dealers across the country in the coming years.

There’s also a fair number of used EVs under a year old or as dealer ex-demos with heavy discounts over RRP. Dedicated city cars with cheap-feeling cabins, but rarer than a Pagani Zonda on our shores. A bit of haggling will drop that price further – dealers will probably play ball to shift ’em.

While it is common for OEMs to NOT report sales of its models by powertrain — including PHEVs and in some cases BEVs like the Kia Niro and Hyundai Kona — both Toyota (RAV4 Prime and Prius Prime) and Mitsubishi (Outlander PHEV) do publish sales of their PHEVs. credit off the the cap cost makes it a real cheap lease on 53k Jeep.

Kia Niro EV review: It was only in 2021 that Kia introduced the Niro nameplate to Australia. Instead, it was more about dipping a toe in the electrified water and getting the Kia dealer network ready or the EV onslaught. Kia Niro EV GT-Line interior. But even as a hybrid the Niro doesn’t come particularly cheap.

It isn’t cheap, though – check the Toyota website to see the costs for your own circumstances. Ownership is likely to be a bit better than some other EV brands, thanks to the widespread dealer network (more than 200 across Australia), and there’s the expected five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty plan.

Kia e-Niro – Kia is expected to confirm it will begin going electric in Australia in 2021 and it’s the e-Niro set to lead the (err) charge. The company has already done plenty of background work (dealer training, charging infrastructure, etc) so it can push the button on the e-Niro later in 2021.
