There’s also a fair number of used EVs under a year old or as dealer ex-demos with heavy discounts over RRP. Dedicated city cars with cheap-feeling cabins, but rarer than a Pagani Zonda on our shores. A bit of haggling will drop that price further – dealers will probably play ball to shift ’em.

Kia Niro EV review: It was only in 2021 that Kia introduced the Niro nameplate to Australia. Instead, it was more about dipping a toe in the electrified water and getting the Kia dealer network ready or the EV onslaught. Kia Niro EV GT-Line interior. But even as a hybrid the Niro doesn’t come particularly cheap.

General Motor eCrate conversion kits – by late 2021 GM plans to offer battery and motor kits for classic cars, allowing an easy EV conversion. Kia e-Niro – Kia is expected to confirm it will begin going electric in Australia in 2021 and it’s the e-Niro set to lead the (err) charge.
