Outside of California, the device has been approved for use by commercial fleet vehicles in Michigan, Arizona, and Texas, and 10 additional U.S. Reviver Auto is making the so-called Rplates, and they aren’t cheap—the plates are listed at US $700, plus an $8 a month subscription fee. Join the conversation at EV Daily on Facebook. Australian Government Funds $105m for EV Fleets. Fleets not only buy vehicles but (some) must sell them long before they’re out of commission. Shifting fleets to electric means also boosting the number of EVs in the second-hand car market. We’ll keep you informed.

Former Lordstown Motors founder and CEO Steve Burns has focussed on the fleet market to generate Endurance sales. Conversions can be done of older utes, potentially prolonging the life of an existing vehicle. A sizeable 142kWh battery pack was claimed to cover about 320km between charges. We’re watching on with interest.

A number of startups showed off their porposals to retrofit the existing fleets of petroleum-fueled vehicles, giving some hope to Andy Grove’s ambitoious desire to create millions of plug-in conversions before the automakers deliver. But neither car, GM execs made clear, will appear for sale on a showroom floor for more that two years.
