The United States is importing more crude oil from Canada, even though the total amount of crude oil America buys from foreign suppliers is falling. Canada is the largest supplier of foreign oil to the United States, followed by Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Venezuela. Almost 99% of Canadian oil exports are sent to the US market.

India, which was earlier importing most of its crude oil from Saudi Arabia, is now changing its strategy and buying more crude oil from Nigeria, Iraq, Mexico and Venezuela. Asia has been one of the biggest cash cows for Saudi Arabia and there have already been some cuts in some of the most crucial markets.

Indian refiners are now buying more crude oil from Nigeria, Iraq, Venezuela and Mexico. On the other hand, it won’t be easy for Saudi Arabia—Chinese refiners are also producing more gasoline, for which demand is still strong. Still, Saudi Arabia can likely wait out the competition.
