It looks like the first units for sale will be the $79,800 4WT trim -- these trucks are meant for fleet sales. Cheap EV trucks will likely be on the market someday. The $74,000 3WT trim is soon to follow, and AG speculates that the lower trims won't come in at less than $60K. Today, it appears, is not that day.

Once the original A110 ended production, the slower A310 started seeing major performance improvements and a boost in sales. European outlets have suggested that Alpine is hoping to build something to compete with the Porsche Taycan. One could have also said that of Porsche in 2002. Win or lose, it should be a good effort.

As we set out into the Utah wilderness to see just how off-road ready a CUV with a CVT is, we were given one last look at what surely looks to be a recipe for sales success. The logic there is that the stuff is going to get banged up off-road, so it might as well be unpainted and cheap to replace.

All the wind farms and solar panels in the world won’t do anything to lower the outflow of hundreds billions of dollars annually or decrease our pump-fueled funding of Islamic fundamentalism unless we build cars that can use that cleaner electricity. I wish I knew what’s holding Gore back from full-throated support for plug-in cars.

Toyota’s accelerated global roll-out of battery electric vehicles seems certain to benefit Australia where the Toyota electric ute could be on-sale as soon as 2024. Australia’s number one selling car brand will launch its first BEV in October or November when the bZ4X medium SUV – a rival for the dominant Tesla Model Y – goes on-sale.

Speaking of home battery solutions, GM Energy also plans to sell one of those, though that unit won’t be for sale until later this year (same with solar integration, which will also come this year). That’s important, because the system isn’t cheap. Batteries will be available in 10, 17, and 35kWh packages.
