Mercedes-Benz is supplying 129 Citaro G hybrid 18m articulated buses to Belgium’s TEC Group. On overrun or when the bus is braking, the energy recovery phase, the motor acts as a generator to produce electric power, which is briefly stored by the Citaro hybrid in capacitors. The vehicles will be delivered by summer of this year.

With HVO the CO 2 footprint of the mtu systems for dynamic uninterruptible power supply (DUPS) can be reduced by up to 90% (depending on the fuel’s manufacturing process and feedstock), particulate emissions by up to 80% and nitrogen oxide emissions by up to eight percent compared to fossil diesel.

After about a year of intensive practical use by ten customers in Germany and Switzerland, eight of the purely battery-powered Mercedes-Benz eActros trucks are now successively going to new customers in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Lithium-ion batteries with 240 kWh supply the energy for the eActros.
