GM posted sales of 4,244 Volt extended range electric vehicles in the US in the second quarter, representing an 8.4% Nissan, which sold 3,539 units of the LEAF battery electric vehicle in the US in Q1 (a 104.2% Honda sold 46 units of the battery-electric Fit in Q1, and 45 units of the Accord PHEV plug-in hybrid.

The i-MiEV is based on Mitsubishis i line of micro-cars which are quite popular in Japan. The four door i-Miev is only 11ft 1inches, 4ft 10inches wide, and 5ft 3inches tall but feels much roomier inside. Inside the car looks like a standard i-car but the gauges have very different meanings.

The smaller Mitsubishi i-MiEV is rated at 112 MPGe combined, with consumption of 30 kWh/100 miles. The EPA-approved Focus Electric label also certifies that the car has a range of 76 miles on a single charge compared with the 73-mile range of the Leaf. Consumption is 34 kWh/100 miles, combined cycle.
