Mitsubishi Fuso to begin series production of fuel-cell trucks by late 2020s; concept eCanter F-CELL

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), part of the Daimler Trucks family, plans to start the series production of fuel-cell trucks by the late 2020s. The Vision F-CELL delivers 135 kW of motor power, supplied by a 75 kW fuel cell and a 135 kW high-voltage battery.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), will supply battery systems from its new-generation electric vehicle i-MiEV to Kyokuto Kaihatsu Kogyo Co., for use in a garbage collection vehicle to power the trash compactor. Current trash compactors on garbage collection trucks run on power from the truck’s engine.

The Vision F-Cell is Fuso’s concept of an electric truck that uses the power of a Fuel Cell as one option to extend the range of an electric vehicle. The truck can be configured with a high voltage battery ranging from 13.8 – 40 kWh, plus 3 to 4 tanks holding hydrogen at 70 Mpa for 5-10 kg of capacity.
