Amazon has begun deploying its custom electric delivery vehicles from Rivian for package delivery, with the electric vehicles hitting the road in Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City, Nashville, Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle, and St. Batteries that are light, resilient, and low cost in addition to lasting the lifetime of the vehicle.

Gerhardt had joined with Ed Benjamin of the Light Electric Vehicle Association (LEVA) to offer training programs—and certification— to aspiring ebike mechanics. Ten years later, 11 TEVA of NC members, representing 1 out of every 10 people in the chapter, had followed Gerhardt into becoming Certified Light EV Technical instructors.

Soft” fleet orders are a critical component of the Plug-In Partners goal of demonstrating to automakers that a market exists for flexible fuel plug-in hybrids. Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) would combine today’s new gas-electric hybrid technology with larger batteries that could provide an all-electric operating range of 25 to 35 miles or more. For example, an area pest control company has pledged to buy up to 150 light weight plug-in trucks, once they are produced.
